Calendar of Upcoming Events
(The dates listed below are subject to change as need be, by the Bureau)

January 2010

1st
The first day the Tax Collector’s will start turning over un-paid 2009 taxes to the Tax Claim Bureau.
   

February 2010

1st

Reminder Letter’s will be sent out. The fee associated and applied with this mailer is $2.00.

 

Defaulted agreements will be updated and 20-day letters will be sent out for the property owner to bring their agreements current.
 

Note:  Property owners will have 20 days to bring all payments current to avoid the agreement from being defaulted. If you cannot bring all payments current within the 20 days your agreement will be voided and you will not be able to have another agreement with the Bureau for 3 years.

   

March 2010

1st

Return & Claim Notices will be mailed out by certified mail. The fee associated and applied with this mailer is $11.00.

Please note that you should sign for any certified mailer that is sent out from the Bureau, this is your best chance of not having your property posted with what is in the mailer.

31st

Prep of sale fee will be applied to all properties that will be available for the 2010 Upset Sale.
 
NOTE: any property with 2008 and prior delinquent taxes that are not covered by a current payment agreement will get this fee added on to their claim.
   
April 2010

1st

Notice of Sale mailer will be sent out by certified, restricted delivery to all owners on the property. The fee associated and applied with this mailer is $11.00 per mailer.
 
Example: If there are two parties listed as the property owner the fee will be $22.00
   
May 2010

1st

Posting Notice’s will be printed for all Notice of Return & Claim. The fee associated and applied with this printing will be $15.00
 
Posting Notice’s will be printed for all properties going to Upset Sale on September 22nd.
 
The first Ad for the Petition for Writ of Scire Facias will run in the Paper.
6th
Second Ad for the Petition for Writ of Scire Facias will run in the Paper.
13th
Third Ad for the Petition for Writ of Scire Facias will run in the Paper.
19th
Hearing on the Writ of Scire Facias will be held at 8:30am.
30th
All Posting Notice’s will be sent for service.
   
June 2010
1st
All posting notices will be sent to the parties doing the postings. Once the notices have been forwarded to the parties doing the postings they will not be pulled from being posted if any payments are made
 

Fee associated & applied for the posting of property is $45.00.

4th
Last day to pay any 2008 & prior property taxes to avoid your name  from being Advertised in the News Paper.
23rd
Our Judicial Sale will be held at 9:00am in the Commissioners meeting room, Room 22. At the Blair County Courthouse.
 

The only way to contact our office on this date is in-person.

24th - 30th
Sometime between these dates the results from the Judicial Sale will be posted here on the website.
 

Please be aware that due to high call volume after the sale you will have a hard time reaching our office by phone. Also be aware that we will be unable listen to & or return calls left on the answering machine at this time. It is in your best interest to keep trying to reach us by phone.

   
July 2010
22nd
Last day for home owner to pay there 2008 delinquent taxes with a personal check.
23rd
All 2008 delinquent taxes MUST be paid by Cash, Certified Check or Money Order.
30th
Last day for the home owner to pay 2008 property taxes to avoid there name from being advertised in the News Paper.
   
August 2010
2nd
Prepare Ad List and forward it to the newspapers and the legal bulletin.
 

Fee associated & applied to each property is $100.00.

6th
Constables will begin to serve the owner occupied properties.
12th
Ad list of properties for sale by Upset sale will run in the Altoona Mirror, Tyrone Daily Harold and the Blair County Legal Bulletin.
   
September 2010

22nd

We will hold our Upset Sale starting at 9:00am at the Blair County Courthouse In conference room 022

  Procedures and practices for the Blair County Tax Claim Bureau Office:

  • Only money orders, certified checks and personal checks will be accepted for payment of delinquent real estate taxes and no personal checks will be accepted after 60 days before any upcoming tax sale;
     
  • The office will continue to accept one-time installment payment plans for qualified delinquent taxpayers;
     
  • Additional information concerning delinquent taxes can be obtained by calling the Bureau at (814) 317-2361 or by accessing the Blair County web site. Questions concerning your current year taxes should be directed to your local tax collector whose contact information can be accessed via the above link.
